It is recommended to delete data from the TL1000 every 2-3 months or at least every year.
There are two methods
- Delete from the Manager application
- Using the Bulk Eraser utility
Why delete the data from the instrument?
Removing internal memory speeds up your data transfers.
If you had data errors, unless you delete the internal memory of the instrument, you will continue to get the same error again every time you Sync.
If your instrument reacts sporadically, the memory may need to be formatted.
In this case, we recommend testing from the Troubleshooting Guide available here
IMPORTANT NOTE
Always make a backup copy of your data files before deleting your instrument.

How to clear data in the instrument

- Click on the "Settings" menu
- Select "instrument" tab
- Click "Delete all trips inside the instrument"
- A warning message will show up to confirm this action and telling you it will be deleted next time it is connected to the car.
- Coli OK to close the interface
- Unplug the instrument and plug it into the car ( or a phone charger for 3 to 5 minutes)
What to do next
- Connect the instrument in the car ( or a phone charger in your home or office)
- As the instrument turns on, it will start to format it's internal memory. This can take a few minutes.
- In this mode, the device will not be functional to record trips . If you start driving, it will not work.
- DO NOT UNPLUG the TL1000 for at least 3 minutes
Once the memory is cleared, the instrument will connect to the satellites signal (If close to a window or in the vehicle), and will resume its normal operation.
Deleting data does not seem to work
You have pressed the "Delete all trips in the instrument" button
but you notice that the memory still shows that the instrument is not empty.
This is normal
This button is in fact a request to the instrument to erase its data the next time it is plugged into the vehicle
- When the instrument lights up in the car, it will start to format its internal memory.
- Only then will the data be erased completely.
- This may take a few minutes.
- In this mode, the device will not be functional.
- If you start rolling, the instrument does not record.
- DO NOT DISCONNECT THE TL1000 for at least 3 minutes
- Once the memory is formatted, the instrument plugs into the satellites to get a connection.
Why?
In case you made a wrong move, you can reverse and cancel the delete command,
as long as you do not plug the instrument into the vehicle.
Another way to clear TL1000 memory
The Bulk Eraser utility is intended for support and is not intended specifically for daily use.
This will format the entire memory without using the Manager application.

- Close all other application
- Start the utility and connect the TL1000 to your PC
- Click on Erase
Do not unplug the TL1000 instrument from the PC as it is being erased.
