WARNING
NEVER LEAVE LOOSE WIRES UNDER THE DASH IN YOUR CAR.
Leaving loose wires floating under the dashboard or near the pedals could lead to a dangerous situation, causing injury or even death. TripLogik includes a clip to secure the excess cable. The user is responsible for their own safety.
If you are unsure about how to properly install the cable, Please consult a local dealer or car repair shop.
Damage to the cable and device caused by improper installation of the unit is not covered under warranty.

If you purchased online, you should have already received an automated email instructions and links to the manual, along with software download instructions.

Step 2
Installing the instrument and OBD Power cable in the vehicle

Triplogik uses a special OBDII cable ( trapezoidal connector with a flat cable ).
This OBDII connector is standard on all cars built after 1996.
1) Locate the connector under the dash (the standard requires it to be within one metre of the steering column)
2) Connect the cable to the car. (Note that the cable plugs in only one way due to its trapezoid shape). On most cars, the OBDII connector is black, while ot purple, but it can be of another color. They are usually under the driver’s side dashboard (see picture 1). TripLogik uses a unique power supply to maintain communication with satellites at all times. The latter also frees the standard lighter connection for other uses.
3) Guide the cable on the side of the instrument panel to the location where the recorder will be installed (see image 2).
Step 3
INSTRUMENT INSTALLATION
The preferred location to install your instrument is adjacent to the left 'A' pillar of the windshield (see image 3).
This is not a functional requirement, but this location is the best place to use it more efficiently, as it is easy to access for the driver and it will be exposed to the sky for superior reception of the satellite signal.
1) Clean up the area where the TL1000 will be located first.
2) Remove the protective film from both sides of the black holding disc and pat it in your hands repeatedly to make it less sticky. (There is no need to be super sticky, its function is to simply prevent the instrument from slipping on the dashboard)
3) Attach the holding disc under the TL1000. Position it on the dashboard so that it is easily reachable by the driver when the button is pressed. Try to keep the instrumet away from direct heat of the defrost ventilation system.
4) Connect the instrument to the USB connector of the OBDII power cable previously installed in step 2.
5) Guide the cable to the side of the instrument panel from the instrument towoards the OBDII connector.
Secure the rest of the cable away from the car controls and pedals and fasten it securely with the cable tie provided.
Wait until the instrument stops flashing before driving. When flashing, the instrument is looking for a valid satellite signal.

Power supply and OBD port
The TL1000 kit includes a patented OBDII power supply ( large rectangular cable with a USB end) .
This power supply ensure the instrument is always ON and will ensure the GPS is already connected to the satellites and ready to go anytime you start driving.
We DO NOT recommend using a cigarette lighter adapter as they are not reliable and tend to disconnect easily, turning off the unit and creating inconsistent trips.
DO NOT use any integrated car USB to power the TL1000 . Most of those are also linked to the car audio systems.
If the car system tries to communicate with the instrument, If the TL1000 will detect a communication link, For the instrument, this is a signal to put itself in communication mode and will therefore STOP any recording.
WARNING
Some car radio will also try to write to the TL1000 and will render it unusable. This condition is detectable and is not covered by warranty.
We highly recommend the OBDII power supply module because it enables the instrument to be permanently powered and ready immediately as you start driving. For more information on fitting the OBDii module Please see the how-to video section here

Location of the instrument
The recommended location is near the driver side window pillar. This location is not a technical requirement, but it prevents being a distraction and is easy to reach in order to press the button without taking your eyes off the road.
This location makes it easy to route the cables in a much simpler and secured way.
ALWAYS MAKE A TEST DRIVE
Once the system is installed and ready, perform a test drive of more than 2.5KM (1 to 2 miles) to obtain sampling data in the instrument.
After the short drive, you can sync with your computer to confirm that your entire system is working properly.

GOOD HABITS AND RESPONSIBILITY
Get into the habit of doing you mileage reports every 30 to 60 days.
Although TripLogik can hold from 50000 to 70000KM of data uploading your data once a year is not recommended.
YOU WILL be the only one responsible for your misfortunes.
While creating a mileage report more often, you can verify each trips to ensure you are not missing any , or that the classification is correct . You can also define frequently visited places as business by default, making sure they will always be classified that way in the future, even if you forget to let the instrument know.
Like in any system, lack of discipline will result in lack of quality .
